Found this little guy in my compost pile while I was amending the soil in my garden beds this morning.

Who knew toads liked to hide in compost piles? Worms and bugs, yes. Toads? I thought they hid in dark, wet places–not dark, wet AND covered with leaves and dirt!! Who knew?

Usually, I run into these guys and must dispatch quickly!

I’m trying to grow tomatoes and hornworms can devour an entire plant in one afternoon. UGH. We gardeners must remain vigilant!
